Claudia Winkleman-approved: Cos is the secret brand for looking polished without even trying

Starting from £45.

By

When Claudia Winkleman endorses a brand, you take note. Of course, you’d be foolish not to when she (with the help of her stylist Sinead McKeefry) steps out in some of the best outfits we’ve ever seen for The Traitorsoutfits that perfectly match the season and the moody Scottish backdrop of the primetime TV show. Her outfit arsenal contains possibly some of the best designer staples (Burberry, Bottega Veneta and Givenchy), but look closely enough and you’ll see that she’s also a fan of the high street – and one affordable brand she’s particularly partial to is Cos.

Let’s rewind two weeks ago, when the highly anticipated drama game show made its return to the BBC. Claudia wore the black version of the surprisingly inexpensive £45 Cos Merino Wool High Neck Top, cementing her allegiance to the high street brand. Of course, you may be wondering why she’d opt for something off the rack when she has a soft spot for luxury staples. Well, we have the answer, and it’s simple: Cos has a serious knack for stocking some of the chicest pieces that look far more expensive than their price tag would suggest.

One scroll through the brand’s new section proves this, brimming with attainable pieces that could easily pass as designer. Sure, their price tags are slightly higher than those of other well-known stores (think H&M, M&S and Zara), but it’s a reflection of the brand’s excellent craftsmanship, as most pieces are designed with considered fabrics such as wool and cashmere. Take the merino wool jumper as a prime example: just over £100, but guaranteed to see you through the season with ease, year after year. The quality is seriously unmatched.

Then there’s its trouser and jean offering, which is incredibly considered and stylish, rarely passing the £100 mark. Its £75 corduroy trousers (a style we already love) are designed with comfort in mind and feature an elasticated waistband, while its flute jeans are equally impressive, at only £85. As for skirts, well, there are lots of them. All carefully crafted, they offer a pretty, feminine touch to your wardrobe, even when some of them take a slightly more tailored approach for a ‘borrowed from the boys’ twist.

But it doesn’t end there. The rest – dresses, coats, jackets, tops – are all incredibly impressive, and I think Claudia Winkleman would approve of every single one of them.
