Yes, you can still shop the JW Anderson x Uniqlo collection – and the knit you’ll wear all season
Designer styles that won’t break your bank account
October has certainly been a big month for fashion collaborations. Nobody’s Child teamed up with TBCo on 100% merino wool knits, perfect for navigating the cold snap. Then, Bella Freud returned with her second collection with Marks & Spencer, offering witty slogan knits that echo Freud’s signature designs at a fraction of the price. Now, Uniqlo is back with another JW Anderson collaboration, packed with designer-style pieces at Uniqlo-friendly prices. And the best part? It hasn’t sold out – yet.
This collaboration arrives at the perfect time, just as I – along with many other stylish women – start upgrading our wardrobes in anticipation of cloud, rain and sub-zero temperatures. My wish list consisted of plenty of knit staples, but I was particularly on the lookout for a stylish jumper that would be so warm and soft, I’d have to convince myself not to sleep in it. Fortunately, the JW Anderson x Uniqlo collaboration offers just the thing: a Fair Isle jumper crafted with a considered, designer eye and quality materials.
Made from a warm, fuzzy yarn, the intricately woven jumper features stylish hem slits, adding a contemporary twist to an otherwise classic end-of-year staple. Available in three shades – olive, beige and a soft pink – the jumper is colourful enough to brighten your autumn/winter wardrobe, yet muted enough to remain refined. Incredibly versatile, the piece pairs seamlessly with jeans, pleated trousers, pointed-toe kitten heels or even a carefully-draped scarf, making it an endlessly wearable wardrobe essential.
Other standout pieces include the Oxford cropped boxy shirt, a JW Anderson x Uniqlo staple that reflects Jonathan Anderson’s Savile Row-style silhouettes. This season, it comes in two new shades: dark grey and a creamy, natural hue. Close behind is the preppy lambswool polo jumper, inspired by Breton classics and the renewed popularity of rugby-style pieces in both menswear and womenswear, offering a charmingly boyish edge.
The underdog of the collection is the poncho, a piece with roots in Native American dress that has been reinvented for contemporary fashion. Crafted from soft, smooth fabric and accented with contrast stitching, the sweeping silhouette functions as a stylish layer and a practical insulator.
