Pop Mart will open its first European pop-up store for its brand Labubu in De Bijenkorf this Saturday morning. It will remain open until 31 January.
Convenience store vibes
The same store was already the setting for a Pop Mart pop-up last month, but it will now host the first European Labubu store for more than two months. The pop-up will be called ‘Wacky Mart’ and aims to convey the atmosphere of Asian convenience stores. The store itself is designed as a mini-supermarket and will offer exclusive releases to its visitors.
Since June, Pop Mart has also had a separate Wacky Mart collection, with twelve designs that are intended to respond to “a sense of global food nostalgia”, according to the press release. Limited releases are intended to encourage collectors to visit the store.
Pop Mart now has more than 500 stores in 30 countries. The Labubu dolls are a huge success: they drove Pop Mart’s turnover up 204 % to 1.6 billion euros in the past half-year.
