Today, Black Friday, Danish Søstrene Grene opened no fewer than six new stores in a single day. That is a record for the retailer, which can also look back on a record month and a record year.
“Milestone reached”
Today, Søstrene Grene opened stores in six cities in four countries: Linz in Austria, Hasselt in Belgium, Levallois-Perret and Paris in France, and Inverness and Stockport in the United Kingdom. Never before has the retailer opened so many stores in a single day. November proved to be a record month, with sixteen new stores opening in a single month. The company also broke a record with 67 new stores opening in a single year.
Retail Director Vickie Jensen wrote on LinkedIn that she was “thrilled and proud to reach our ambitious goal of 67 new store openings”, adding “To be honest; it wasn’t our intention to open so many stores in one day, but an unforeseen water damage incident, combined with our goal in sight, spurred the entire team to work tirelessly to achieve this milestone”.
