Ikea’s current CEO, Peter Agnefjäll, has announced he will step down on 1 September after a five-year stint. At that time, Jesper Brodin will take charge of the Swedish group.
With Ikea for 22 years
Agnefjäll has spent 22 years at Ikea, but he will now leave the company and look for another challenge. “After 22 exceptional years at Ikea, including five in my current position, it feels like a natural moment to head into another direction”, Agnefjäll said. “Ikea has been an important part of my life, both personally and professionally. Before I make any new choices, I want to spend some time with my family.”
Jesper Brodin will succeed him on 1 September. Currently, he is Ikea Sweden’s CEO and heads the company’s product development and logistics.

Just like many others, I feel compelled to thank him for his incredible guidance and effort, which have definitely helped Ikea grow over the past few years. I expect to have plenty of wonderful years still and it is an incredible honour to help guide the company in the retail industry’s rapidly-evolving world.”
