Ikea wants to buy more products made in the United States again. The company is responding to Trump’s increased tariffs, but the chain is also opening stores across the Americas and wants production nearer to the markets.

The share of locally made products in Ikea’s US range had fallen by a quarter to just 15 % over the past decade. This was not surprising: (Inter) IKEA had its own factory in Danville (Virginia), but closed it in 2019 to move production to Europe.
