Westfield shopping centre opens TikTok pop-up venue

London’s Westfield shopping centre opens a ‘TikTok For You’ house, a pop-up where fans can interact with the video platform’s well-known influencers and also create their own videos.

Influencers give tips

London’s Westfield shopping centre partnered with teams at TikTok to create the concept. The pop-up has an area of about 370 square metres and will be open until 8 August.

Influencers such as British teenager Kyle Thomas, comedian Ehiz Ufuah, chef Poppy O’Toole and freestyle footballers Jeremy Lynch and Ben Black, will offer sessions explaining how to create content for TikTok for 5 British pounds (almost 6 euros). There will also be special sessions for parents to learn how to keep their teenagers safe on the platform.

Prospective TikTok stars can also book the location for free to create their own video. The pop-up has four themed rooms, including a kitchen where, for example, cooking competitions can be shown. There is also a living room, a dressing room and a garden, writes The Guardian.

“Cultural phenomenon”

TikTok, Instagram and other social media have become increasingly influential among consumers in recent years, helping to determine where and what they buy. A physical space allows them to open up the platforms to new potential users.

For shopping centres, it can be a tool to attract more visitors again, after the decline caused by corona. ” TikTok has become a cultural phenomenon. It’s where many of our visitors are getting their inspiration from, whether that’s fashion trends, the newest home styling influencer or foodie fads”, says Harita Shah of Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.
