China remains the largest source of problem goods at the European border. The number of products from the country that were stopped and ultimately rejected in 2024 skyrocketed compared to 2022. The EU is asking member states to further increase their controls.
China far ahead, US and UK at a great distance
European retailers have long complained about the influx of cheap, unsafe, non-compliant products from China, and a new report from the European Commission confirms the problem. The number of rejected items from China increased by nearly 180% in 2024 to 48,139 pieces. This places the country well ahead at the top. The United States follows with 3,247 rejections, the United Kingdom with 2,120. The difference is significant.
