Belgian food producer Vandemoortele posted a 10 % growth in sales in the first half of 2025, thanks to numerous acquisitions. For the same reason, profits could not keep up with the growth rate.
Higher raw material prices
“The first half of 2025 was more challenging for the Vandemoortele Group than the same period last year, with weaker market demand and higher raw material prices”, the company said in its half-year report. Increased butter prices put pressure on sales and “the unusually favourable raw material cost of 2024 did not receive a follow-through this year” in the plant-based foods division (including margarines and mayonnaise).
