In recent months, Colruyt again lost market share in Belgium. The discounter, which sees itself disadvantaged by wider opening hours at competitors, wants to strengthen itself with new categories to gain market share.
Seven days out of seven
In the period from April to August, the market share of retail chains Colruyt Lowest Prices, Comarkt, Okay and Spar fell by about 35 basis points (from 29.2% to 28.9%). This was reported by Colruyt Group Wednesday evening at its general shareholders’ meeting. The retailer also lost market share last fiscal year: it fell from 29.3% to 29%.
