The Dutch are increasingly shopping across the border, while Belgians are doing so slightly less. Price is the main motivator. Shoppers often combine their shopping with filling up their car and buying tobacco.

Cross-border shopping has passed its peak for Belgian families, but is steadily increasing for Dutch consumers, according to new figures from market researcher YouGov. This can probably be explained by the fact that Belgian supermarkets are now significantly cheaper than Dutch ones, as a result of increased competition on the Belgian market.
