Double-digit growth
With net sales of 22.5 billion euros – an increase of 6.1 % at constant exchange rates and 2.2 % at constant exchange rates – Ahold Delhaize performed slightly better than expected in the third quarter of its financial year. This growth was partly due to the acquisition of Profi in Romania and the opening of new stores, and despite store closures at Stop & Shop in the United States. Comparable sales grew by 2.9 %, despite a negative impact of 0.1 percentage points due to weather conditions and 0.3 percentage points due to the tobacco ban in Belgian supermarkets.
