“Further delay is irresponsible,” write Nestlé, Mars Wrigley, Ferrero, Tony’s Chocolonely, and others in an open letter to the EU. They want the European law against deforestation to finally be implemented. Mondelez, however, has a different opinion.
Second delay due to IT problems
A number of food and raw materials companies, including many chocolate manufacturers, are calling on the European Commission not to postpone the introduction of the new European deforestation law (again). In a letter to EU Commissioner Jessika Roswall, they write that further delay “jeopardizes the preservation of forests worldwide, accelerates climate change, and undermines confidence in European regulations.”
