Kellanova, which produces cereals for Kellogg’s and snacks for Pringles, has opened its largest logistical hub in Europe. The sheer scale of the project – 65,000 sqm – tells something about the company’s ambitions.
Doubling in size
Kellanova will ship 250 tons of products per day from the new site: customers in Belgium, France, Luxembourg en the Netherlands will get Kellogg’s cereals and Pringles snacks, while the latter will also be shipped to Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The new site will account for more than a fifth of the company’s total volumes in Europe.
The new logistical hub centralises the activities of five former hubs, but is twice the size of those five former hubs combined. This points to huge expansion ambitions within Kellanova.
Moreover, the site also contributes to Kellanova’s sustainability ambitions. For example, the centralisation reduces the internal transport needs by almost a third. Solar panels on the roof are also planned, which should help to get a BREEAM Excellent certificate for the new building.
