Jumbo has appointed a new CFO: Hendrik Jan Roel, who has extensive experience in the retail sector, including at Jumbo’s Dutch rival Albert Heijn.
“Challenger mentality”
Roel will start as Chief Financial Officer at Jumbo in early February 2026. He will succeed Peter van Erp, who has decided to leave Jumbo after 28 years. Currently working as interim CFO at flower auction Royal FloraHolland, what stands out most in Roel’s resumé is his more than 20-year career at Jumbo’s rival Albert Heijn (and its owner Ahold Delhaize), where he was also Dutch CFO.
“Hendrik Jan has a challenger mentality and sees plenty of opportunities to make Jumbo more successful. In addition to his enthusiasm for numbers, he has a real heart for retail, with a lot of passion for products and stores. I am therefore very much looking forward to working with Hendrik Jan”, as Jesper Højer, who will start as CEO in January, puts it.
Jumbo is currently undergoing a thorough reorganisation of its management team. Another notable transfer is that of former Lidl and Superunie boss Boudewijn van den Brand, who will become Director of Sales and Supply Chain.
