Ben Cohen increases pressure on Unilever: the co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s says he too will leave if a buyback of the brand fails. The escalation comes barely a month and a half after the departure of co-founder Jerry Greenfield.
Watermelon-flavored ice cream
Like Greenfield, Cohen accuses Unilever of silencing Ben & Jerry’s on sensitive social issues. According to him, the group recently refused to launch a watermelon flavor in support of Palestine. “I’m doing what they couldn’t do,” he says in a video on social media, announcing that he will release the “militant dessert” himself through his personal label Ben’s Best, founded in 2016.
