Amazon is bringing the “endless aisle” to life in the physical world. In Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, the e-commerce giant is testing a new store concept that combines the physical supermarket of its subsidiary Whole Foods Market with Amazon’s online offering.
One-stop shop
Pringles and Coca-Cola are not products that customers usually find in Whole Foods’ natural food stores, but Amazon is now changing that. In Pennsylvania, the tech giant is experimenting with a virtual “shop-in-shop”: customers can order around 12,000 additional items via internet kiosks in the supermarket, and at the end of their shopping trip, their order will be ready for them in the store.
