Fresh vegetable output in the European Union climbed 6% in 2024 to 62.2 million tonnes. Several key crops posted gains, while overall fruit, berry and nut volumes slipped slightly.
Vegetables advance, led by Southern Europe
Together, Spain, Italy and France represented 55% of all fresh vegetables harvested in the bloc. However, Germany, France and Poland were the largest carrot growers, according to new Eurostat numbers. The Netherlands topped the onion ranking with 26% of the EU crop, followed by Spain at 20% and Germany at 12%.
