Now that the sale of French garden chain Truffaut has been completed, the LDz group (formerly Louis Delhaize) is only waiting for approval from the Belgian competition authority for the transfer of Delfood to Delhaize.
Decision expected shortly
Retail group LDz, owned by the Bouriez family of entrepreneurs and formerly known as Louis Delhaize, completed the sale of its French chain of garden centers on December 1: Truffaut has been transferred to the branch of Jacques and Claire Bouriez and their six children. With this, the LDz group has sold all its operational activities in France.
One retail activity remains in Belgium: Delfood, the food wholesaler that supplies the Louis Delhaize neighborhood stores. At the beginning of this year, LDz reached an agreement with Delhaize on the sale of the company, but the transaction is still awaiting approval from the Belgian Competition Authority. That decision is expected shortly.
In recent years, the group sold the Match and Smatch supermarket chains and the Delitraiteur catering chain in Belgium to Colruyt Group. The seven Cora hypermarkets will close their doors in January. In France and Romania, the Cora and Match stores were taken over by Carrefour, while E.Leclerc acquired the Luxembourg branch of Cora.
