Functional foods, protein-rich dairy products, and plant-based alternatives are helping Danone achieve impressive growth figures. The strongest growth is in Asia, but Europe has also been growing for eight consecutive quarters.
“Transformation is not yet complete”
In the third quarter, Danone’s comparable sales grew by 4.8% to 6.876 billion euros. 1.6% of that growth was attributable to price increases, while 3.2% was volume growth. In Europe, the group achieved revenue growth of 2.6%, mainly thanks to strong performance in functional foods, with Danone Skyr, Activia Kefir, YoPro, and the plant-based brand Alpro. The momentum is particularly strong in the China, North Asia, and Oceania region, with comparable growth of 13.8%, thanks in part to medical and baby nutrition. Growth in North America is more moderate, despite strong growth for protein-rich dairy products.
