Dirk Moyaert will become the new CEO of Aldi Belgium, succeeding Wim Voet on 1 November. Voet is retiring after a career spanning almost forty years.
Successors from within the company
Moyaert is currently vice-CEO: the German chain says it “opts for stability and continuing the successful policy of recent years” with the appointment. Moyaert has been with Aldi for many years and has built his career in both Belgium and France, the discounter said in a press release.
Voet became CEO of Aldi Belgium in 2019, and had previously held management positions for many years – first at a regional headquarters, then in the holding structure. He was the driving force behind the expansion of the fresh produce range and the modernisation of the store network.
Moyaert himself will be succeeded as vice-CEO by Koen Piessens. He too is a replacement from within the company: Piessens has held various positions at the discount chain, most recently as managing director sales.
