Chinese sportswear group Anta (which also owns Wolfskin and Fila) is exploring a possible bid for Puma. However, Asics and competitor Li Ning are also sniffing around, now that the French billionaire Pinault family (Kering) is preparing to exit.
Asian interest
With the weakened German sports brand losing no less than 62 % of its share value this year, major shareholder Pinault is ready to reduce its stake of 29 %. The news has immediately sparked a lot of interest from Asia, although talks are still in the early stages.
