Twelve trade federations and around 100 fashion brands are filing a class action lawsuit against Shein in France. They accuse the Chinese platform of unfair competition and are seeking millions of euros in damages.
“Destabilization of the economic fabric”
The lawsuit, filed with the commercial court of Aix-en-Provence, revolves around alleged unfair competition that Shein has committed since its entry into the French market. The initiators are well-known brands and retail chains, including Promod, Coopérative U, Grain de Malice, and Monoprix. They accuse Shein of not respecting French regulations and refer to illegal practices such as misleading advertising, selling unsafe products, and violations of personal data protection.
