This afternoon, Shein opened its first French store in the BHV Marais department store in Paris, drawing attention from hundreds of eager shoppers – as well as from numerous politicians and protesting activists. Shortly after the opening, French Prime Minister Lecornu announced that the fashion brand would be suspended.
Suspended in France
Suspended on the day of its first store opening: that is what happened to Shein today. The French government has initiated proceedings to temporarily suspend the online activities of Chinese fashion giant Shein “for as long as necessary to prove that the platform’s content complies with French law”, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
