Puma has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer: Andreas Hubert, who worked at rival Adidas for nearly twenty years, but stepped down after four years as Chief Information Officer in June.
Not just competition
From 1 September, Hubert will take charge of Puma’s sourcing, sustainability initiatives, and product development, as well as IT and logistics operations. The former CIO brings decades of expertise in technology and supply chain management from Adidas.
With Hubert at the helm, Puma aims to make its processes more efficient processes and further focus on digitisation and sustainability. The emphasis is particularly on strengthening resilience in the supply chain and optimising all operational activities.
Adidas and Puma are more than just rival brands: they were founded in the 1940s by two brothers, Adolf and Rudolf Dassler, who had a falling out within their joint Dassler Schuhfabrik. Just like the Albrecht brothers of Aldi, the two then started their own companies. However, the divide between the two seems to be less deep of late, as Puma’s new CEO also made the same move in April – and its former CEO Bjorn Gulden went in the other direction in 2022.
