SGM Group’s plans to open Shein corners in some of its department stores are so controversial that Galeries Lafayette is ending its partnership with the franchisee. The department stores should change their name as soon as possible.
Unacceptable
As soon as the French Société des Grands Magasins (SGM) announced its plan to introduce ultra-fast-fashion brand Shein in several regional Galeries Lafayette stores, the Parisian department store chain immediately protested loudly. SGM has been operating the stores independently for years, but Galeries Lafayette now no longer wants to associate its name with them.
