Amp up the flavor of softened butter by stirring in herbs and spices. Simply slice and toss with roasted or grilled veggies, or use to top meats and seafood for instant deliciousness.
Ingredients
Smoky Cheddar
- 1/2 cup
(1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 oz.
extra-sharp orange Cheddar, grated
- 1/4 tsp.
smoked paprika
- 1 Tbsp.
finely chopped cilantro
- 1 tsp.
lime zest plus 2 teaspoons juice
Hot Honey
- 1/2 cup
(1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 Tbsp.
habanero hot sauce (we used Tabasco), plus more to taste
- 2 tsp.
honey
- 1 Tbsp.
chopped chives
Herby Mustard
- 1/2 cup
(1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2
small shallot, finely chopped (about 2 tablespoons)
- 1 Tbsp.
chopped flat-leaf parsley
- 1
to 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp.
fresh thyme leaves
Miso Garlic
- 1/2 cup
(1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 Tbsp.
red miso paste
- 1
small clove garlic, grated
- 1
scallion, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp.
toasted sesame seeds
Directions
For all butters, mix in a bowl to combine and then, using plastic wrap, shape the mixture into a cylinder and twist the ends to seal; refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 2 months. Slice and toss with roasted or grilled veggies, or use to top meats and seafood.
