Amazon Prime Day as early as June this year

Amazon is moving its annual Prime Day into June this year. The e-commerce giant thinks the two-day event, which includes all kinds of discount deals and new product launches, is best held before the summer and the Olympics.

Too many distractions this summer

Amazon Prime Day is already coming in June. Typically, the shopping event takes place in July, but last year it was postponed until October due to the corona pandemic. This year, the festival will take place earlier. Although the exact date is not yet known, the e-commerce player says it has chosen a date that it thinks will attract more attention from both customers and sellers.

Indeed, Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky fears for the attention span of consumers this summer, who may be allowed to travel again for the first time and may be distracted by the Olympics from July 23 to August 8. The company is also concerned about transportation delays in July, according to CNET.

More details will follow soon, also via Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa. People with an Amazon smart speaker can ask Alexa to keep them informed about Prime Day. Jeff Bezos’ company previously announced that the shopping event, which mainly offers electronics products at high discounts and often launches new gadgets, would definitely continue into the second quarter.
